BASIC OPERATION
BASIC OPERATION
INTRODUCTION
Operator activities related to ongoing operations are performed in the
DISPLAYS MENU. Some operator activities may also be associated with
tuning (TUNE MENU), alarm settings (ALARMS MENU), and set-point
manipulation (SETPTS MENU) especially during startup. Other activities in
menus labeled RELAYS, MA OUTP, DIG INPT, INPUTS, and BASE CFG are
for various setup, configuring, and calibration procedures. Operator access
into menus other than the DISPLAY MENU may be restricted by configure and
tune passwords. If required, a correct code entry (up to five digits) must be
made to gain access into these menus.
Operator activities available in the DISPLAYS MENU include:
Monitoring process variable input and set-point
Monitoring controller output to the control device
Monitoring alarm status
Acknowledging alarms
Monitoring totalization values, suspending totalizer, resetting totalization
values
Changing any one of the four local set-point variables if enabled
Changing mode between manual and automatic
Changing output value while in manual mode
Changing set-point source between any one of four local set-point
sources (if enabled) and remote set-point (if enabled)
Changing ratio and/or bias when A/M Ratio Bias Station is enabled
Activating the automatic tuning (if enabled)
Activating ramp/soak profile, and monitoring ramp/soak segment
number, time remaining in segment, and cycle number
Resetting ramp/soak profile, and skipping ramp/soak segment
Monitoring computer activity when controller has RS-485
Communications Option (Refer to MODBUS Communications
Supplement, IB-23C650M)
FRONT PANEL
The front panel has three 8-character engineering displays, three 3-character
status displays, and three 50-segment bar graphs. Figure 15 shows the
instrument front panel.
